About Our Founder
BrainSense Toys was founded by Dr. Nicolene Shields, Ph.D., a behavioural neuroscientist and educator with a deep passion for early development, learning, and the science of how children grow.
With a background in behavioural neuroscience and years of experience supporting families, educators, and children through evidence-informed learning approaches, Nicolene created BrainSense Toys to bridge the gap between research and real-world play.
Through her work with Brainwise Academy, she has helped parents and professionals better understand child development, behaviour, emotional regulation, and learning readiness.
Every product in the BrainSense Toys collection is chosen with an expert eye — not only for fun, but for the way it can support developmental milestones, spark curiosity, and encourage confidence at different stages of childhood.
